Actor Bob Hastings passes away

It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of Bob Hastings. Bob had a list of portrayals a mile long and was a fine actor. As far as old time radio goes, I remember him best from an episode of “X Minus One” entitled, “Tunnel Under The World” by Frederick Pohl. Great story with a great twist ending. Of course, television audiences probably remember him best from “McHale’s Navy” where he played Lt. Elroy Carpenter.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Bob at a Friends Of Old Time Radio convention in the late 1990s. He was a lot of fun and had some great stories to tell about his days in radio and television. He will be missed.

Here’s an L.A. Times article on Bob’s passing: http://www.latimes.com/local/obituaries/la-me-bob-hastings-20140703-story.html
